MoodBoard - Crime
By this mood board we can see our genre more clearly, by this I mean that we can see what type of scenes and actions you can relate and see, which is more dangerous and evil themed, which this relates our genre, which is crime.
In addition, by this mood board we can also see the type of audiences, which are teenagers and young adults mainly.
Overall, we can see that our genre is violent and interested by all the classes, which are working class, middle class and high class. This is because these kind of scenes, which are dangerous scenes, relates in daily life, so our audience can beware of these dangerous situations around the world.

Shot by Shot remake analysis
Explain/analyse what you learnt from the process?
In this process I have learnt you should have good communication with group members, because if there is bad communication the messages can cause misunderstanding.
What went well in the group?
In the group group the positive point is that, when we were working our work couldn't upload, by this issue, we have reacted quickly as a group and changed our plan by making another scene. The editing skills for the video went well, even though in our group no one was the expert of using the editing for the video. By this everyone in the group has improved their editing skills, and have a but experience with the editing skills.
What skills have you gained?
The skills I have gained through this process is that by finding and reacting quickly to any problems and how to be patient.
What skills do you need to acquire?
The skills that we need to acquire is how to manage your time and how to communicate well with the group members.
What do you need to work on before filming your opening? How will you do this?
Before filming our film opening we should discuss together as a group and plan it together, by meeting everyone in the group in one place and share each of our opinions and thoughts.
Evaluation 3
What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute Your Media Product And Why?
What
is a institution?
A institution is a company that disperses media product for audience
consumption.
Where
would institution disperse a film
product?
A
film would go to cinemas either nationally or
internationally. However, after being a the cinema for a while it would
then get dispersed shops to sell DVDs.
One of the institution I would distribute my film opening is 'Lionsgate'.
Lionsgate is one of the successful independent studios. I chose this insitution, Lionsgate, this is because Lionsgate has produced more thriller movies, which is the genre we have chosen. Vithusiya: Evaluation 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression fromit to the full product?
Well with the preliminary task we had only just found out the names of different camera shots so when going into making the preliminary task we just wanted to use as many different shots as possible and sort of make it look all right along the way, we were also very eager to start filming so we did sort of rush writing the storyboard.
However we did learn from this when it came to our main production as in stead of getting straight into creating the storyboard, we started planning different ideas for the story line as we wanted it to be the strong point of our movie and we also started thinking of similar movies, which is related to these genre, which is crime thriller.
Krupa and Vithusiya: Evaluation 5
How did you attract your
Audiences?
The colour if the poster of our film
opening contains black, gold, red and white.
The colour black connotes danger,
evilness, darkness, which all these are negatives point of views, which means
this shows that this film opening is related towards negativity and danger.
The colour gold suggests power. This
means the film opening is to do with power and jealousy. The colour red
signifies blood and danger which implies that the film opening is about murder
and loads of blood being shed. The colour white suggest innocent which can also
mean that someone innocent might have been murdered due to some problems.
We created a poster of our film
opening for marketing strategy. The image above shows the person lying down on
the floor, where her expression is blank as she is dead. This suggest that she
was killed brutally, as we can see from the blur images of the person in the
background.
We have chosen the location of a
mysterious road because stereotypical it is said that people are killed in an
unknown road where there are less people, so this could connote that puja might
be walking through this unknown road and when was killed.
This film product will attract our main audiences, which are teenagers and young adults, this is because mainly of our genre, which is crime thriller. This is aimed at all classes and genre, because the characters in the film are from different backgrounds and experience extraordinary events which happens in everyday life. I think due to its content and independence it's probably a film you're most likely to see more than once, this is because is similar as the ordinary life, which this makes the audience attracted, so they can see and know what happens in real life.

Vithusiya: Evaluation 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing the product?
During the creation of my media product, an opening sequence i've learnt a great deal about technologies and they have helped and improved my media product.
1) CAmera
During the creation of my media product, an opening sequence i've learnt a great deal about technologies and they have helped and improved my media product.
1) CAmera
This was the most important part of technology, which we was
using. At first I wasn’t sure on how to use the camera, because I DIDN'T have experience with cameras before, because of this I was STRUGGLING a bit at the beginning. Then later I got time for using it
and learnt techniques, which at the end by practicing with my camera I CONFIDENTIALLY used it well.
2) photoshop
photoshop is one piece of software that we tried using to complete our production logo. we found this quite tricky, this means i found photoshop extremely hard compared to other objects. therefore, at the as a group we have made our production log in final cut.
Vithusiya: Evaluation 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
the main audience of my media product are TEENAGERS and young adults from the age of 16 to 27. this is because this age group is mainly interested in crimes and mysterious movies, because this age group prefers surprises, which this make them watch these type of movies.

Vithusiya: Evaluation 2
How
does your media product represent particular social groups?
Gender
uOur movie starts with females
workers working in an office, where is opposite to the stereotypes, which this
means, that usually females are represented not as workers, but males are,
where females are generally as housewives and do domestic works.
Costume
uCostume is that as you see the
movie we can see Pooja wearing all black ,which the colour black represents
evil and darkness, which means that the situation is serious and bad.
uThe next character called Olivia
wears red, which is the villain this is movie, which the colour red represents
also evilness and blood.
Ethnicity
uIf you see in our movie, most of
our characters are from south Asia, this stereo typically, south Asians are
represents as good in education, such as having good jobs, such as officers,
doctors and ect. In this case as the stereotype
all our characters are playing a good job, which hare officers,
Introduction
of the villain
uThis scene where the villain has
introduced it shows clearly that the person is defiantly the villain, this Is
because the villain is wearing everything black and the room is dark too, which
means and creates darkness, and shows something serious and dangerous is
happening.
Detective
uThis shows that if you see the
detective in the movie has a good posture and a confident tone, which also
wears black, this means and shows that the detective is the powerful character

Primary Reserach
Primary research questionnaire
We had asked the following questions to people find out what their favourite genre drama was and what to they accept from those drama to help us know what age group our drama will be for and how we can match their expectations.
The following question we asked were:
- What is your favourite Genre Drama
- Gender
- What is your age
- what would you like to see in an opening of thriller/crime movie
Audience Analysis
overall from the answers we got we found out that most people would go and watch a film because of the story plot and the violence in the movie. Most of the people had chosen more of killing and detective as their favourite, such as "skyfall and “Shooter”, because these films have a lot of violence, blood scenes and killing scenes. Many of the students also prefer quick action and explosion’s because this is what grabs their attention and makes them want to see more. people over 20 preferred the characters and what they are capable of.They also prefer the story plot as well as actors in the movie, on how good the actor play’s the role as their character. We took this information that we had gathered and got into consideration and decided and use it to help us with our film opening.

Tavanna: Evaluation Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?
How have you found the filming process?
The filming process was quite challenging because you had to make sure that the audience had the same view as you, despite the cameraworks. ( Stuart Hall preferred reading). For example, match on action is not easy to shoot but with adequate editing skills this could be fixed.
What have you learnt about recording and editing sound?
Recording sound is also quite challenging because you have to make sure that the audience hears the dialogue clearly despite any extra background noises. Especially, if you are based outside. Editing sound is also quite challenging, because with copyright free music (Bensound) you have to make sure that the soundtrack fits the theme and the actions of the scene. For example, in a thriller, you would play a fast paced music in the minor key. An example of the is in the movie ‘Jaws’ when the shark is near.
What equipment and programs have you used ?
The equipments that I used were:
- A tripod
- A camera
- Computer (keyboard, mouse…)
The programs I used were:
- Youtube
- Wevideo
- Powerpoint
- Adobe premier
- Bensound
- Easily
- Prezi
- Voki
- Storyboard that
- MIcrosoft word and powerpoint
- Powtoons
- Glitter text
- Gamefroot
What is the process you went through to create your product?
When creating our media product, we had to go through the processes of planning, editing and evaluating to ensure that our media product was complete up to standard.
What files have you had to use to transfer media?
I used google docs to transfer files to my blog. This is because it is quite easy especially when your pc or media device is based around Google.
Have you used any digital effects on your sounds and images?
I have used ‘Wevideo’ to portray sounds and images in my production log. This is an easy and creative way of presenting my work.
How have you published your work on the internet?
I have published my work on the internet through exporting videos to youtube and the embedding unto the blog. I have also used links on my blog to the desired website in order for readers to see my work.
This was an effective way to create my storyboard.

Krupa: Evaluation 6
When we were filming our film opening sequence, we decided upon ourselves to use a canon camera and that too with a tripod. To be honest, I wasn’t the most professionally skilled individual when it came to using the canon camera. However, I had some sort of basic camera knowledge and skills on how to use the camera to its fullest potential. This was because of the previous tasks which I had completed I used the canon camera. This benefited me in many ways. In my view point, I do strongly believe using the canon camera was a great match and camera for my opening sequence. This is because it captured the scenes with great quality, this added a touch of professionalism and made it look quite realistic. As well as the camera, using the tripod was another great idea. As it was really useful to film a range of different shots. The tripod also prevented the camera from shaking when filming which was another great bonus. I do believe that our opening sequence would have been quite hard to film without using the tripod. If I had not decided to use a tripod to film it would have resulted in most of the scenes being quite shaky making it hard to watch what is specifically happening in the scene. This would have conveyed a message of unprofessionalism. Which in my case I did not want. As it would have conveyed that we used a hand-held camera. So that our audience feel as if they are part of the scene itself. As the genre of our film opening sequence was crime drama. We as a group did not feel it was essentially necessary to use a hand-held camera.
After filming our introductory task, we used iMovie to edit the work.. In the process of using iMovie, we noticed that this software was the best for editing short clips because they do not require many effects or transitions to be added to them. IMovie was very helpful when we had to edit videos as we didn’t have to change the sound or lighting. This was our first time trying this editing software so we thought it’d be best to use it to edit the video clips since we were not familiar with many software that are used for editing.
In the process of filming, we used websites like Blogger to upload all our research and plan which we had used to help ourselves with our media product. We were all able to share ideas and help each other easily as we all uploaded our own work on our blog. We created posts to back up our media product and also to upload the answers to our evaluation questions.
Choosing many different software and websites to help me present my research and planning allowed me to present my work in many different styles and types. The different software and websites were; Prezi, PowToon, iMovie, and Microsoft office word. Trying some of the websites for the first time allowed me to learn that I can present my work in many creative ways. I knew that only using Microsoft office to present my work was not going to be as creative and effective as what you can create using Prezi or PowToon. By presenting my work creatively, it was easier for me to present my work and get my point across clearly as well. In the time I’ve spent in media, I have learnt to present my work using many different techniques to make it creative which is not only handy just for now but also for the future when I may have to present my work or design any type of presentation.
Throughout my experience in this coursework, I have learnt about many different and new technologies which are involved in the process of making the product. I feel that without some of the software, e.g. Premium Pro and iMovie, we wouldn’t have been able to complete our media product to its high standard today. The new software that we’ve used have made the process of filming and editing the product a lot easier. The software and technologies I’ve used have been a great benefit to me as I was able to try various types of websites and software which I had not been familiar with before. Learning these new skills to use new software will aid me with any piece of work that I do later on.

Marketing our Film
How can we market our film?
To market our Film, we can market it in different ways, so we will be able to gain more viewers and audiences through this.
1) Facebook
Facebook is one of the most popular social media, which is very good for marketing and advertising our movie. This sis because there are 890 million people creating and signing into Facebook, which most of the people use Facebook daily.
2) Twitter
3) Instagram
The third popular social media, which is useful for marketing is Instagram. This can be a good way too, this is because by uploading pictures, with different type of effects you can attract more audiences.
4) Snapchat
The last social media which I'm going to talk about is Snapchat. Snapchat is thelatest social media, which not mostly used by many people around the world. This because it's a lot simpler, than the other social media to use; you can share to everyone, by taking pictures, drawing, writing, emojis, by calling, video calls and also, by recording your voice.

Camera Angles
Camera Angles
Close up
A close up is a shot that focuses very closely on the face or an object, which sometimes the background is blurred, because to focus on the close up shot; which this gives importance to the scene or action.
Extreme Close up
An extreme close up is similar to close up, but this is more closer than the close up. By this I mean that you can only see a certain or specific part only, which is extremely close or focused. For example, a human's face is the close up and the extreme close up can be the eyes.
Panoramic Shot
A panoramic shot is a shot of couple of scenery or an environment photographs that are together, but they are taken separately, then later put them together to create a large panoramic shot. This shot is mainly used to show the overall of the scene or the setting.
Long Shot
A long shot is when objects and people can be fit in the scene, without any editing and cutting; which this means in this scene you will be able to see not only one action, but other actions, as well. For example, you can also see the actions in the background.
Extreme Long Shot
An extreme long shot is same as the long shot, but is more in detailed. This is usually used to show the location or the setting in detail and also to show where the scene has been set in. Sometimes, they also use this shot to create pressure and tension in the scene.
Middle Shot
Middle shot is when it shows a figure from the waist and upwards, this sometimes the background is blurred and also sometimes, the backgrounds gives only a minimum of detail.
Birds eye view
Birds eye view when shows an overall of the scene, this is normally take in a very high level; which this will make the objects and people smaller, than the normal size; to create this view they use a helicopter.
High Angle Shot
A high angle shot is same as the bird eye view, but instead of the helicopter the crane is used. This is mainly used to give an effect to the audience, to show that the object or the person is powerless.
Low Angle Shot
Low angle shots are mainly filmed near the ground level, this is mainly used to show to the audience that the person or the object has power.
Point of View
Point of view shots are mainly taken as a view of the audience, which means it feels like an experience by the the audience. This is a shot where you make the audience feel that they are part of the film, which this effect will make the audience be engaged with the film.
Oblique Shot
Oblique shot is when the camera angle is tilt,, which this is mainly used to confuse the audiences, and to make confusions or disruptions. This shot is mainly used in dangerous scenes, disaster scenes, scary scenes, action scenes and many other. In addition, this shot is similar to the point of view shot too, this is because the audience will feel the same experience, which means the audience feel that they are the part of the film, same as the the oblique shot.
Over the Shoulder the Shot
The over the shoulder shot it makes the audience feel like that the person or the object is in from of them, which the person or the object it had been watched or followed by the audience. This effect is also to engage the audience in the movie.
