Representation – gender

Representation

Are there any conventional representations within your genre?
The conventional representations within my genre are that the women are presented as the damsels in distress and the men are the dominant figures.
Give specific examples of how these representations are suggested to the audience in the opening.
An example of this is when Chelsea (the victim, also a female) gets kidnapped (by a male, the kidnapper) was placed in a position where no one could help.
Does this link to the target audience? Typical narrative? Setting?
This links to the target audience because there is a young girl that grew out of her teenage years and is being kidnapped by a slightly older man due to her parent's actions. I think this is a conventional narrative because women are often portrayed as the victims and not the attackers. The setting is conventional because it is outside in the night. This would be the ideal time of day to kidnap your victim because you are less likely to be identified and seen.
